<br /><strong>IPUMS:</strong><br /> The average length of single life for persons age 15 to 54 expressed in years among those who marry before age 50. Marital status is determined using the IPUMS MARST variable, which indicates the person's current marital status according to law or custom: <a href='https://international.ipums.org/international-action/variables/MARST#codes_section'>Link</a>. Censuses vary in the treatment of consensual unions, which are not identified in all countries.<br /></p>
