Method of Calculation
Data source specific method of calculation:
DHS:
Numerator:
Numbers of women who received antenatal care for their last birth, according to grouped number of visits.
Denominator:
Number of women with a birth in the last 5 years.
Calculation:
Number of antenatal visits is grouped into categories of no antenatal care, 1 visit, 2-3 visits, 4+ visits, and missing/“don’t know” before calculating percentages. Timing of first antenatal visit is grouped into categories of no antenatal visit, <= 3 months, 4-5 months, 6-7 months, 8+ months, and missing/“don’t know” before calculating percentages. The percentages are the numerators divided by the denominator, multiplied by 100.
