Method of Calculation
The numerator is the number of sexually active unmarried women aged 15 to 24 years who are currently using, or whose partner is currently using, at least one modern contraceptive method. The denominator is the total demand for family planning (the sum of the number of sexually active unmarried women aged 15 to 24 years using any contraceptive method and the number of sexually active unmarried women aged 15 to 24 years with unmet need for family planning). The quotient is then multiplied by 100 to arrive at the percentage of married or in union women (aged 15 to 24 years years) who have their need for family planning satisfied with modern methods.

Number of sexually active unmarried women aged 15 to 24 years who are using any modern contraceptive method including female sterilization, male sterilization, pill, IUD, injectables, implants, male condom, female condom, emergency contraception, vaginal methods, lactational amenorrhea method, or other modern methods.
Denominator:
Sexually active unmarried women aged 15 to 24 years, including women who are not currently married or in a consensual union (single, divorced, widowed, and separated) and who had sexual intercourse within the last 30 days, that have either unmet need for family planning or met need for family planning.
Calculation:
Numerator divided by the denominator, multiplied by 100.
