<br><strong>IPUMS:</strong><br> The number of children under age 18 with living mothers that reside in the same household with their mother, divided by the total number of children under age 18 with living mothers. Individuals under age 18 are identified using the IPUMS AGE variable. Mortality status of mother is identified using the IPUMS MORTMOT variable, which indicates whether the person's biological mother was still living at the time of the census: <a href="https://international.ipums.org/international-action/variables/MORTMOT#codes_section">Link</a>. Co-residence with mother is determined using the IPUMS MOMLOC variable, which is an IPUMS-constructed variables indicating whether or not the person's mother lived in the same household at the time of the census: <a href="https://international.ipums.org/international-action/variables/MOMLOC#codes_section">Link</a>. The MOMLOC variable identifies social relationships such as stepmother and adoptive mother as well as biological relationships.<br></p>
