IPUMS:<\/strong>
The number of private households that own a television divided by the total number of private households. Television ownership is determined using the IPUMS TV variable, which indicates whether the household had a television. This indicator is calculated for private households only. TV ownership is not reported for group quarters such as institutions and other collective dwellings for most censuses. For this reason, group quarters are excluded from both numerator and denominator of this indicator. Group quarters are identified using the IPUMS GQ variable: Link<\/a>.
